Training
Valerie Saw is a consultant eye surgeon based in London, specialising in laser eye surgery, lens replacement and cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery and dry eye.
Miss Saw graduated with the University Medal from the University of Sydney, coming first place on the Honours list, going on to undertake specialist training at the Sydney Eye Hospital, and completing clinical and research fellowships before being appointed a substantive NHS consultant (2010 - 2015) at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Moorfields Private Hospital, London.
She is currently a consultant and Senior Lecturer at Imperial College NHS Trust and Central Middlesex Hospital. She is the only female listed in 'Top Laser Eye Surgeons in the UK' (Clinic Compare UK).
Consultant Expertise
In recognition of her experience and expertise, she is an examiner and committee member for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery.
She takes an active interest in research and has published extensively, with her PhD thesis being awarded the Research Medal at Moorfields Eye Hospital and an ARVO Travel Grant.
Miss Saw is an Hon Associate Professor at University College London and is regularly invited to speak at conferences and lectures both nationally and internationally.
Valerie Saw has been President of the British Society for Refractive Surgery since 2022.
